apt-get install libapache2-mod-suphp
a2enmod suphp

Edit `` and change

suPHP_Engine off

suPHP_Engine on

and

service apache2 restart

Fiddle with /etc/suphp/suphp.conf and make sure the docroot is the wordpress install and min_uid/min_gid < id-of(www-data)/gid-of(www-data)

chown -R www-data.www-data <wordpress install>
